I do sound design for movies, animations. My approach is grounded heavily in acoustic recordings and the deep sample technology. Therefore I use advanced recording techniques: microphones which can record up to 96 khz (my favorite is MKH 8040 from Sennheiser), good preamps and quality processing. In the second step I use all kind of synthesis and sampler methods starting from granular synthesis to wavetable and throughout to normal handy samplers. I tweak it, tweak it, resample it, tweak it again, do different kinds of layering processing until I feel satisfied.

For me good sound design is finding a good balance between dialogue, music, foley, sound effects, ambiances and still support the story telling in a musical way!

Here is a video of mine, which demonstrate the method how I collect and create sounds in studio environment:

I use various kinds of objects in combination with proper surfaces and mic choice to reach a specific goal, sound, texture etc. Here you can see and hear my approach, how I make sounds and how versatile (rather endless) it can be to create a sound.

And now let’s see my works:

In 2018 I had the luck to make the sonic branding of Jim Jam TV channel in collaboration with the amazing composers: (www.thesoundtailors.com) team. I am proud that in more than 100 countries babies listen to my funny jump and whoosh sounds.

I wrote music, recorded a bunch of sfx, made foley (I am proud of the bird foley!) and mixed everything together.

This is how I usually record punch sound source material. I use multiple mics and contact mics too. The sound in this video is unfortunately a camera sound only. I only wanted to show you what and how I use it when impact sounds are needed.
